Study the normal developmental process of communication as well as disorders that can interrupt that process while preparing to enter an exciting career helping people.
A bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Disabilities or in Speech and Hearing prepares you for graduate study and a rewarding career in an allied health profession. Either major will prepare you for advanced study to become a speech-language pathologist or an audiologist. Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology are among the fastest-growing professions in the United States.
The course of study, which is aligned with the American Speech and Hearing Association, will teach you foundational information related to communication disorders and about the special populations we serve. You'll learn diagnostics, assessment, intervention, and treatment for individuals with a variety of communication difficulties. We'll also help you develop critical thinking skills, clinical decision analysis, and effective communication when working in an interdisciplinary medical team. Our program is significantly different from other undergraduate CSD programs because of the amount of clinical practice you'll receive. Starting in your junior year, you'll have the opportunity to gain clinical experience in our on-campus Speech and Hearing Clinic under the supervision of faculty licensed in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. In addition, you may choose to spend a term working in the local school districts under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist, or as an intern for a local audiologist’s office. And when it's time to search for a graduate school, you can take advantage of an agreement with the Thiel College Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program.
Pursuing another field of study? A minor in Speech and Hearing can help broaden your skills and pairs well with several other majors.

Speech-language pathologists and audiologists work in a variety of settings and with hugely diverse populations. Career settings include hospitals, medical offices, rehabilitation centers, secondary schools, Veteran's Affairs medical centers, and private practices. Through these CSD degree programs, you'll be able to have flexibility in your career and make a difference in people's lives.
